From Framework to Function: Implementing AI-Driven Tools to Support Healthcare Value Analysis Practice

The Deeper the Domain Context, the Deeper the Utility

Kyle P. Atkins, Ed.S., NRP, PMP, CVAHP, FACHDM — Veritas Technology Solutions, LLC

General-purpose chatbots assist with brainstorming and summarization, but they do not inherently understand the structure, terminology, evidence expectations, or decision pathways of healthcare value analysis. This poster traces the three-stage evolution from a general custom GPT assistant (1,000+ conversations) to a purpose-built PICO(TS)/GRADE Literature Synthesis engine, and finally to the national AHVAP AI Insight Hub—demonstrating that AI utility scales with domain context, workflow structure, and programmatic governance.

Frameworks, Tools, and Ethical Guardrails for Healthcare Value Analysis

Kyle P. Atkins, Ed.S., PMP, CVAHP, NRP, FACHDM — Veritas Technology Solutions, LLC

Across modern healthcare operations, artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming embedded in nearly every layer of clinical and operational decision-making. As AI features increasingly appear in software platforms used by Value Analysis (VA) teams including evidence review tools, forecasting models, and product performance dashboards there is a growing need to shift the focus away from the technology itself and toward how it is thoughtfully applied.  While numerous frameworks exist to guide general AI adoption, most emphasize technical implementation over healthcare-specific governance. This poster introduces a dual-framework approach designed to support VA professionals in both identifying opportunities to integrate AI within the value analysis process and evaluating those tools through an ethical lens. By anchoring implementation in principles like transparency, bias mitigation, and clinical oversight, teams can avoid ad hoc adoption and instead apply structured guardrails to ensure AI aligns with patient-centered and organizational values.
